What To Know About Your Case

Straight answers to the questions Florida drivers ask us most after a crash.

Florida is a no-fault state, so your own PIP coverage pays first — 80% of medical bills and 60% of lost wages, no matter who caused the crash. You must see a doctor within 14 days to qualify. If your injuries are serious, we can pursue the at-fault driver for the rest. Tell us what happened and we'll walk you through it.

It depends on your medical bills, lost wages, future care needs, and how the crash has changed your life. No honest lawyer can promise a number before reviewing your case — be wary of anyone who does. A free case evaluation is the fastest way to get a realistic answer.

You can still recover in Florida as long as you were not more than 50% at fault; your compensation is reduced by your share of responsibility. Fault is often disputed — don't accept the adjuster's version of events. Talk to a lawyer before you agree to anything.

Generally two years from the date of the crash under Florida law — and some steps come much sooner, like the 14-day window to see a doctor for PIP benefits. Evidence fades quickly, so the sooner we start, the stronger your case. Call us today for a free consultation.

Report the crash to your own insurer, but stick to the facts. Don't give the other driver's insurance company a recorded statement before speaking with a lawyer — adjusters are trained to minimize what they pay. Let us handle those calls for you.

We’re on a mission

The HL Law Group Promise to Our Clients

HL Law Group was founded in 2008 by Harold Y. Levy, who spent more than 20 years as an insurance and real estate attorney before opening the firm’s doors in Fort Lauderdale. A Magna Cum Laude graduate of New York Law School, where he finished in the top 3% of his class, Mr. Levy built HL Law Group on a simple idea: the people across the table from the insurance company deserve lawyers who understand exactly how insurers think.

Today that idea runs through the whole firm. Our bench includes a Florida Bar Board-Certified trial attorney, former insurance-defense litigators, and Kurt T. Wilson, recognized by The National Trial Lawyers Top 40 Under 40 in 2023. When you work with HL Law Group, you are treated like family — we keep you informed, answer your questions, and stay available 24/7 after a car crash, truck accident, or any other injury we handle.

We are licensed in Florida and New York, headquartered in Fort Lauderdale, and we prepare every case as if it will be decided by a jury.
